The expandable polystyrene Plastimo EPS is a Bulgarian product for external thermal insulation that combines European quality with an acceptable, competitive price.
Plastimo EPS is made of polystyrene granules, which under influence from steam, expand and are molded into blocks and panels. This technological process results in a product composed of a great number of welded blebs. A decisive factor for its heat–insulation capacity is the air confinedinthe cells. The expandable polystyrene contains 98% air and only 2% of its volume accounts for the thin walls of the cells building it. With its open cell structure Plastimo EPS unlike XPS extruded polystyrene/ achieves the effect of a breathing wall and prevents the appearance of co densation and mildew in the premises. Breathing walls are of special importance to new buildings where humidity is particularly high.
Internal insulation
The freezing point is too close to the internal surface of the wall and to the heated space. It cools down quickly after the heating source has been switched off,due to that the natural ability of the wall to accumulate heat has been reduced. Thermal bridges remain insulation–free, which lessens the effect of the thermal insulation system.
External insulation
The freezing point is outside the façade wall and away from the heated space. The ability of the wall has been fully utilized to accumulate heat and to radiate it inwards. This is a way to achieve energy effectiveness of the building–heat insulation with Plastimo EPS reduces energy loss to a minimum, prevents heating the environment, while the entire quality of accumulated power is kept for a long time in the premise. This not only saves heating expenses but also provides comfort to the inhabitants.
